It took them ten years, but the mastermind behind 9/11 has been found dead.

Threads here need to have a 'like' feature.

This does seem like an occasion to get plastered and sing patriotic songs.

Not the type to go out and get drunk, but I have poured myself a very small Kahlua and cream for celebration. Cheers!

Well, now instead of being largely forgotten, he's a martyr. Expect this to be a rallying point for a surge in recruitment to extremist Islam.

And shame on you for celebrating someone's death. Every human death is a loss. That his death was necessary because of the circumstances of his upbringing and environment is tragic and stupid.

He's a jizzbag. I'm sorry but the morality rules bend aside for people of his ilk. You'd be just as unsuccessful trying to make me feel bad about Hitler dying.

Then let's make a list of all the people to whom we don't have to assign personhood and see how long it gets.

No man is an island, but some clods need to be washed away. To say that delivering justice for the worst terrorist attack in recent history was reprehensible is not just idealistic but mindless.

Oh, and Osama's circumstances and upbringing brought about his actions? The rest of bin Laden family seems to be having a swell time being ridiculously wealthy Saudi aristocrats. What unfortunate circumstance of his birth were you referring to that made him believe in the primacy of Sharia law over thousands of human lives?

I said it was necessary, and it was. I thought we were beyond knee-jerk reactions.

But you're right, he put himself in that position. But he wasn't a mustache twirling cartoon. He was trying to do the right thing. That he was wrong necessitated his death, but making it out to be a huge victory in the war between good and evil is self-aggrandizement. People like that shouldn't be popping up in the first place. He's a symptom, not a cause.

It's one shorter now.

Har de har har. Anyway, I wasn't criticizing killing him, I was criticizing the celebratory attitude. They do the same thing when American soldiers die. We're better than that. If someone forced me to kill them, that would be a sobering moment for me, not a joyous one.
